We are NOT nearly the richest country in the world. We are the declared nationality of the richest people in the world who do not share any of that wealth with any of us. They got 82% of the relief money and you can bet your last dollar that all of that money will be invested in other countries. We're never too broke to drown the rich in money, but there's never any crumbs left for the rest of us.
Using that money to nationalize worker's salaries would have minimized the damage done to the economy and made compliance with the quarantine painless, and therefore, more effective.
