N.21’s S/S 26 show was unfolded under the masterful touch of Creative Director Alessandro Dell’Acqua, who has steered the house since its 2010 inception. The runway wove a tapestry of melancholy and levity, featuring hair artistry by Anthony Turner—the British legend behind iconic looks for the likes of Madonna and Dua Lipa. The collection’s inspiration blooms from Dell’Acqua’s nostalgic dive into late-’80s preppy whimsy fused with ’90s punk grit and ’50s bourgeois reverie, a deliberate counterpoint to our turbulent times that favors “lightness” over excess. “In a world so heavy, even a little levity can clear the mind and lift the spirit,” Dell’Acqua mused, channeling the faded glamour of Forte dei Marmi’s coastal elite – sweaters knotted like makeshift pearls, polka-dot slips slit to reveal lingerie flashes, and sheer chiffon skirts fringed with feathers – while layering humble cottons against brocades for haphazard, lawless charm. Dell’Acqua’s obsessions – tartans, knits, and heat-pleated duchesse – raft commercially savvy separates ripe for mixing, turning personal style into a quiet act of defiance.
