Trump makes last-minute midterm strategy shift

President Donald Trump has revived two rallies that were previously scrapped in the final days of the midterm campaign.

Now, Trump plans to hold events in Kansas and Iowa on Sunday, according to a White House official and a Republican official. The officials said the rallies were rearranged to accommodate several telerallies.

The Kansas rally was originally scheduled for Saturday before Trump said he was no longer going because GOP Sen. Roger Marshall was “doing really well.” Polls have shown Marshall in an unexpectedly tight race.

Trump lashed out at a reporter Thursday who questioned the president about his health and asked if he was sick of traveling. He called the reporter “disgusting.”

President Trump travels to Alaska on Tuesday, his sixth trip there since 2019, in an effort to boost Republican incumbents in Alaska’s U.S. Senate and U.S. House races.

The visit is part of a busy campaign schedule for the 80-year-old president, who in recent days has held events in Nebraska, Texas, New York, Tennessee, and Ohio as he seeks to bolster Republicans ahead of the midterm elections.

Meanwhile, a leading Republican super PAC is pulling out of key House races in New Jersey and Iowa, dealing a blow to GOP hopes of holding on to those battleground seats.
