New polling shows Democrat James Talarico leading Republican Ken Paxton in the closely watched Senate race in Texas. The same polling has Democratic gubernatorial nominee Gina Hinojosa leading three-term Republican incumbent Greg Abbott by 4 points. That comes as a new survey of the nation’s 37 most competitive congressional districts shows Democrats in a strong position to flip control of the House this November. The poll, conducted for The Cook Political Report, also finds voters in these districts are eager to see a new Congress do more than simply hold President Donald Trump to account, but also make fundamental changes to the political system. When Donald Trump ran for office in 2016, he promised to restore ethics in government.
