Funny story a friend of mine told me, so i am not sure if this is true or not. But here goes.

Story is that he went in with some army buddies into a local Italian restaurant, as in it was in Italy. My friend asked the owner, who always liked talking to the customers for spaghetti and meatballs. The chef/owner, said "you want a meat ball?" My friend replied "yeah, spaghetti and meatballs." The owner asked again, "you want one meatball or how many you want?" My friend said "3 should be fine, i'm not that hungry."

The chef/owner went into the back and started cooking. Came out later with what my friend described as "a bed of spaghetti with marinara sauce, and three meatballs the size of meatloaves." This episode reminded me that a meatball came be many sizes, and you should know how big they are going to be, BEFORE you order. ^-^

Chicken Parmesan is one of those easy meals, that are easy to make badly. Easy is hard in a lot of fields. The easy leaves very little room for making a mistake.

  17. @demijones7537

    December 14, 2023 at 1:47 am

I love that Steven didn't put the sauce on the chicken before he put it in the oven and just used it for the pasta. That way the chicken can stay crispy and not get soggy, I'll definitely start doing my chicken parmesan like that from now on 🤤🤤🤤🤤

If youre italian, or have some in your family, or are with someone whos italian or just love italian food, tell me we dont have some of the best comfort cuisine in the world.
My fav food( and anything chinese, japanese, or thai) is what i grew up on and 42 yrs later itll never change….that lasagna looked creative and delicious…..

Apple Crisp
RECIPE COURTESY OF REE DRUMMOND
Level: Easy
Total: 1 hr 20 min (includes cooling time)
Active: 20 min
Yield: 8 to 10 servings

Ingredients

Apples:
Salted butter, for the baking dish
8 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
1 heaping tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Topping:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch of kosher salt
1 stick (8 tablespoons) salted butter, melted
Ice cream or frozen custard, for serving

Directions

For the apples: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch glass baking dish with butter.

Arrange the apple slices in the prepared baking dish in an even layer. In a bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Sprinkle the mixture over the apples, then pour 1/2 cup water over top.

For the topping: In a separate bowl, mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and a pinch of salt. Stir while drizzling in the melted butter. Sprinkle the topping in an even layer over the apples.

Bake until the topping is slightly crisp and golden brown, about 43 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature on its own, with ice cream or with frozen custard.

Grandma’s Old-Fashioned Baked Mac ‘N’ Cheese
RECIPE COURTESY OF KARDEA BROWN
Level: Easy
Total: 1 hr 50 min (includes cooling time)
Active: 30 min
Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted, plus more for the baking dish
1 pound elbow macaroni
1 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more for the pasta water
Two 12-ounce cans evaporated milk
1 3/4 cups heavy cream
6 large eggs
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Three 8-ounce blocks extra-sharp Cheddar, shredded
One 8-ounce block sharp Cheddar, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
Nonstick cooking spray, for the foil

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the inside of a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with butter.

Cook the macaroni to al dente according to the package directions in boiling salted water. Drain the pasta and return to the pasta pot or pour into the prepared baking dish. Add the butter and stir until combined.

Whisk together the evaporated milk, heavy cream, eggs, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a large bowl; add to the macaroni. Set aside 1 cup shredded extra-sharp Cheddar for the top. Stir in the remaining shredded cheese and cubed cheese. Sprinkle the reserved shredded cheese evenly over the top.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil (coat the underside with nonstick cooking spray). Bake until the pasta is bubbly, about 40 minutes. Uncover and bake until the cheese is browned, 15 minutes longer. Remove from the oven and let stand 15 minutes before serving.

Cook’s Note: Brown the macaroni under the broiler for 5 minutes if needed.
