Contrast Mike Bloomberg's $130 million donation towards the Perelman Center with billionaire Donald Trump – he's never donated anything to anyone in his life unless he could be certain it would ultimately benefit him The only thing he's done for NYC is lie to the authorities about his income and taxes, so as he could grift off the city. 🍊⚖
Trump said shortly after 9/11 that he lost "100s of friends" in the disaster – what has he done in their memories – where's his memorial to these 'friends'?

This convention is a big deal and I am grateful that it is held in San Francisco. I believe, just for perspective, that Folsom Street Fair held at the end of September attracts more than 400,000 people, many of whom come to the Bay Area for the week. San Francisco does not need more police. We have too many police and pay too much for them as do most large cities. What we need is a police force with integrity, one that is better trained and does their job. Police literally get a call and sit at the station because they want San Franciscan’s to feel unprotected since BLM protests of 2020.

The Pentagon was the most heavily guarded building in the world, with cameras everywhere but, they cant release any footage showing a passenger plane hitting the Pentagon.
    Sounds legit, NOT.

Too bad Bush and Cheney wouldnt testify as to what really happened on 9/11.
That doesnt seem suspect at all.
Im not blaming the government but i think the Bushes and Cheney knew a lot more and pray the truth never comes out.

I still don't think Afghanistan was behind the attack on the Towers. The US is not all that civilized. If another country actually infiltrated the US and performed such destruction, we would release nuclear weapons upon them just like we did against China. US doesn't have such restraint. We really don't.

I was today years old, in finding out that they were adding names on the list of fatalities on the Memorial Wall through the years since, it's really good to include the names of those who eventually died from complications, including cancer, arising from 9/11. I never knew this was going on.

I wonder what keeps Putin hanging on to his objective of subjugating Ukraine, pride surely but I wonder how much optimism he has on a possible T** presidency. If the Dems clear the hurdle of T** and the Far-Right with a win in 2024, will this pave the way for a downfall in russian leadership. Is Putin hoping for a Far-Right comeback to make it work. This is a long wait, there has to be something more to this, surely something more because what about NATO, the biggest elephant in the room. Definitely more info on this issue is necessary.

On 11 September, 2001, Donald Trump called into a TV station (WWOR) to talk about the day’s tragic events. Then he turned his attention to the height of one of his properties, which he falsely claimed had become the tallest building in lower Manhattan. “Well, it was an amazing phone call,” Trump said. However, as multiple fact checks later pointed out, his assertion was not true. The Wall Street building had not been the tallest building in lower Manhattan in the 1970s, when the Twin Towers were constructed, nor was it the tallest in the area after 2001. But Trump's priority, on the day of the attacks, was to brag and aggrandize.

So, Ms. Ruhl…are you are journalist or are you a big corporate consultant???

Stephanie—you along with so many of your 'educated' journalists should know that the term "Ground Zero" is the point of impact of a NUCLEAR detonation, NOT some location in New York. While I can appreciate the urge to use hyperbole during such an emotional remembrance, you and thousands of others who SHOULD know better, misuse a (truly) horrific event that America has NEVER had to endure. Hiroshima and Nagasaki know only too well the (true) horror of such an event!

The lesson we have still not fully learned from 911, is to stop putting oil and minerals above people.

  32. @NOMOREBS65

    December 19, 2023 at 2:34 am

Dangerous dictatorships only continue to exist because of the global market race-to-the-bottom that incentivizes oppression. It is time for good people of the world (who can still vote) to stop playing around and put a massive 500%+ tariff on ALL dictatorships and theocracies. Free trade should only be with free people.

All democracies must join together in a free-trade union to finally make all governments accountable to their people by taking the profit out of oppression. Discounts can be given to encourage improvements, but we must be consistent.

Domestic tax reductions and rebates will make this tariff cost the consumer nothing. In fact, this would eventually make all countries more prosperous as well as peaceful. No excuse not to start now.

If that $70b were to be spent on infrastructure instead of war, can you imagine what developments Americans can benefit?

Maddow: Trump learns the hard way, ‘incompetence has consequences’

Published

on

By

Rachel Maddow examines the confusing mix of contradictory, impulsive decisions and petty tantrums that constitutes Donald Trump’s agenda. She notes that the result is an almost complete loss of U.S. allies around the world, and that only three states have a net-positive opinion of him. Even in those states, voters are handing him election losses by proxy.

Published

President Trump launched the U.S. into a new trade war with Canada, imposing 50% tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian goods. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Trump wants Canada to “negotiate in good faith.” In response, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that Canada was at war with the U.S. and lamented that “America has changed” and promised “dollar for dollar” retaliation. MS NOW Senior White House Reporter Vaughn Hillyard provides more context on how Canada was “the top importer of American goods” prior to 2024. Plus, Jared Bernstein, Senior Fellow for Economic Policy at the Center for American Progress, joins The Weeknight to discuss how Trump’s escalating trade war with Canada could cost American consumers even more.
